Squeee - Little Fawn

Yay for new patches and presents in the post from Breanni.

I got a new little pet for the 75 pet achievement.

Here we are in Dalaran experiencing some lag casting our nerfed COH, but it looks very pretty though.

Pet Heaven

Well, I found out the new pet achievement in the next patch has been lowered from 100 to 75, so Seph will get her little pet deer - hurrah!

Also - I found a [White Tickbird Hatchling] on the AH at a sensible price (i.e. less than 200g). Then I waited for my Egg to hatch....

Hurrah! A cobra hatchling. That brings Sephs personal total pets to 76. Of course I went and bought my next egg. Kind of hoping for the Proto-Drake before the pet - at least I can always buy the pets - the mount is bop as far as I know.

Screenies - love them

I've been going through my screenies to put as many boss kills as I can find on our new, shiny Guild website and I came across this one from last Christmas (or whatever it's called in WOW - I forget now). Ahhh - the lengths some girls will go to try to get new pets :)

It didn't work - all I got was a letter telling me to delete the one kit I had so I could get another. Not quite what I was hoping for. It was a little disappointing - I hope Blizz do better this year - a third snowman kit would not go down well with Sephrenia. Yeah, I know, it's still September, but I'm cold and being cold makes me think of winter and winter means Christmas....

Twas a peaceful day in Dalaran....

.... so I went exploring the sewers again.

There's potions lying about.

If you drink them they do this... hee hee - Tuskars... I like it.

As a Tuskar you can sit down..... you shuffle up your pants and sit... somewhat dejected looking, but very cute....

... it makes you want to sing and dance...

... Tuskars are also hungry, so it increases your fishing skill by 50 for the 10 minute duration of the buff.

Another potion and everyone looks different...

Pretty...

these are sewer guards (usually orcs I think - can't remember).

Finally, I found a shady dealer type down there who sells another pet...

With so many fun things to do it's no wonder I'm not even level 71 yet is it? Ah well, one day... maybe... when I can stop fishing, buying pets and their toys, mounts, doing cooking quests and such fun things.

Birthday Crocs

Well, it's my birthday today, so I thought I'd try it on a bit when I saw it was the crocodile fishing quest....

I got a speedy response....

Not what I wanted, but hey - you can't blame a girl for trying :)

Sephirot was lucky - he won an [Eye of the Sea]. Lorienne was even luckier and snagged her second croc - she got a [Snarly's Bucket].

He's an agile little devil...

I just wish I could swap them over to Sephrenia....

Pet love

Well, rather than try to reset all my talents AGAIN in the beta, I did my usual cruise around Dalaran. They've now got guards you can ask for directions to all sorts of things.

Of course I needed a few more supplies from Breanni, and found the latest addition to her offerings..

Your pets will LOVE you if you give them one of these...

The heart stays there - AND it stacks with the clean pet sparklies.

There's going to be so much to do when I'm level 80 and not raiding, once WotLK is out. Wonder if I can still chat when I'm cleaning, feeding and playing catch with all my pets :)

FINALLY - a crocodile pet

Well, after MONTHS of fishing quest, one of my characters got a crocodile pet. It's a shame that it wasn't Sephrenia, but still - it does prove they exist.

Also - beware of Gnome mages. Their eating habits have a strange effect on their digestive systems.... I think it might be time to change my in game boyfriend :)

More completely useless WotLK information

I have decided that I'm going to leave all the theorycrafting to others. I am on the search for strange, useless, fun, funny and "real" stuff. I'm going to test all the "girlie" things that I get the most enjoyment in the game from.

So - in the beta I want back to Netherstorm to buy a load of pets that I did have in the bank, but had sent them to an alt for safe keeping when I needed space to level tailoring and forgot to send back before I transferred Sephrenia. I earned the achievement "Shop Smart, Shop Pet...Smart" for having 50 pets and got a mail from Breanni...

it contained...

He's soooo cute...

Today I found somewhere to spend my time in Dalaran.

She sells [Chocolate Celebration Cake] which is perfect to share with my new found beta testing friends Softi and Auric. Was lovely to meet the two of you in game last night - when I get bored of silly stuff I'll come questing with you or maybe we can try an instance. Hide not fellow WOW bloggers who are part of the EU beta test. Come play with Sephrenya - she has cake.

Some random mumblings

Well, yesterday I spent all day trying to log on to beta. I finally got on about midnight. I rode to where I thought Dalaran was and couldn't get in :( I asked about and someone said it's quest at lvl 74, or ask a mage higher than level 74 for a portal. I went to the traditional place to ask for portals (Ironforge) and found a lovely level 80 mage who opened me a door to Dalaran.

I went, found a quest to go down to the ground and back up and am sorted - yay. Next up, find Breanni and get a pet fetch ball...

I played with Mojo and a ball for a while and went exploring a bit more. I found the inn and went up on to the rooftops. What a view...

And then it was time for bed.

Today, son has taken over my computer and is playing DeathKnight. I guess I'll wait until tonight, or when he goes back to school to get my go. To be honest I'm not sure what else to do. I've now done the things that excited me most about the new expansion - had a haircut, found Dalaran, played fetch. Am I too easily pleased? I'd like to try some of the new instances, but I'm not one for PUGs - there's 3 of us from my guild with keys, and Softi one of my blog readers (who I've yet to greet online), so that's almost a group, so maybe we can do something in the future.

On a different topic - my guild's Council elections are complete and I am still a member of the Council - hurrah! We have several new members and I'm looking forward to stepping out of the limelight a bit and letting them do some of the work.

I hate PVP, but ... anything for a pet!

So - new today - new pet for the Olympics - all you have to do it win a BG!

OMG - PVP - I hate pvp. I dig my stuff out of the bank - actually I'm not too bad - 346 resilience, but I lose all my mana regen stuff.

Where to start - try a WSG - lose - get a tabard though. Find some guildies and try a WSG - LOSE. Try an EOTS - WIN! No mail - no pet. Sad bunny. Try an AB - lose. Why are Alliance so BAD at PVP? They run around like headless chickens after anything red and leave everything free for Horde to pick off. One more WSG - going OK - I'm with the warrior with the flag - keeping him alive and killing all who come in. He gets bored though and drops the flag for a druid, who runs into a million horde and dies. Argh - we lose.

Give up for a bit and have some lunch.

Back in - sign up for everything - get in WSG - horrible looking group - AB pops up - dreadful, completely dreadful - we can't even keep bloody stables. GUYS - I'm HEALING - keep me alive and I keep you alive. Jees - how hard is that as a concept?

AV comes up. I join. I have NO CLUE where to go in AV, so I tag along behind a crowd and a guy called Mayhem something who seems to know what he's doing! I find myself by a graveyard somewhere and we seem to take it. See something about Drek - kind of remember he is their bad guy we need to kill. Also see something about Vanndar needing help.

Wander into a bunker - Ooooh! There is their bad guy. People seem to be getting ready to attack. I heal my little butt off (which is being bitten by wolves) and all of a sudden WE WIN!

OMG - I won an AV and I have no idea how - LOL - what a total noob. (Top of healing though).

Get out of BG and I HAVE MAIL - YAY - I have my medallion! New pet, new pet, la la la la la la!

Don't I look mean in my PVP gear btw?

I'm never going to be able to play properly again ....

.... with this little addition to WotLK.

Wrath's Fetch Ball lets you play with your pets

I've got so many pets to play with - it's going to take me ages to watch each one. Arrrgh!

Mounts and small pets will take no bag space in WotLK

OMG - this news is too good to hold on to and make a post tomorrow....

Mounts and small pets will take no bag space in Wrath

Read it and /dance with JOY! Suddenly I'm going to have 60-80 spare bag and bank slots. This is soooo much better even than the idea of having a "kennels" or something.

FINALLY Blizzard have "got it".

For those who cba reading the link a brief summary....

Come WotLK, mounts and vanity pets will be learned as spells. The items that currently summon pets/mounts, like Sprite Darter Egg or Ashes of Al'ar, will serve to teach us the spells, at which point the item will disappear from your inventory and the spells will be found in your spellbook for all time (bindable to hotkeys like any other spell if you want).

The Three Amigos

Another fun night last night. The guild had an alt/gearing Kara raid going on, which was good and several others were out and about questing, pvp-ing and instancing. At one point when I looked we had 31 people online - this is GREAT given recent lacks.

In between my usual "Seph chats" I took Lorienne to Old Hillsbrad. I managed to talk the lovely Verenus into tanking for the group with his super Paladin tank, so this made life a little easier.

A few things really brightened my run. One - we killed the young Don Carlos and stole his hat. Two - Thrall looks absolutely ridiculous riding on a horse. No wonder the poor beast goes so slow. Three - riding down the road, he notices some guys and proceeds to attack them (we walked past them earlier with no response)... When they die he says "I did not ask for this!" Lol - just LOL!

Anyway - we completed it and Lori won [Mantle of Perenolde] and picked up a quest reward of [Southshore Sneakers]. They look AWFUL - I mean - bright blue - what were you thinking Blizzard - how can a rogue sneak in bright blue boots? Oh a plus side, they do match my hair. Ah well - son likes them - apparently she looks "imba" now.

After this I logged in to Seph in a quest for another new pet. It was time to go back to Old Hillsbrad and beat up poor Don Carlos again. This time it was on Heroic, but to be honest we didn't notice much difference. We did it in a group with 3 healers - one was tanking, one went dps and I stuck to my roots and healed. We brought a warlock and a shaman for some fun too.

We managed to kill him 3 times - basically if you kill him, loot the [Don Carlos' Famous Hat], exit instance, switch to normal mode, switch back to Heroic - reset - YAY he respawns! (Not sure quite how long Blizz will let that happen, but it worked last night). Here's the screenie with me chatting to my new doggie and welcoming him to the family.

And I leave you with a shot of the 3 amigos who got their silly hats and cute doggies. A guildie has the patterns for the rest of the gear - just need to farm some stupid mageweave to get them. More bag space required... I still think the shaman should have had a go for the hat too - being a ghost wolf with a doggie running with you would be so cool. Shame my shaman is only level 23 or I'd be after that with her.

Oh, after all that Lori went and nuked Sethekk Halls again to help some guildies and she's well on the way to level 69. Son is playing her again - he's keen to do some pvp with her and is working on the final bits of Terokkar and Zangarmarsh for me. Ah - some parts of school holidays are good!

Happy Girl - got to love patch days

OK, so patch days are a pain. The UK is a day behind the US - they get to play with all the fun stuff first. I mean, I had to wait a WHOLE DAY to get my new pet. First off there's the add-on troubles - remind me again why I have so many... Second our realm has extended extended maintenance for some reason so we have to wait until 13:00 to get online. Finally I get online.

Number one - fishing quest - hurrah it's crocs. I wander to Stormwind and check out the new construction site while I'm fishing. Grab a baby croc and take him back for Old Man Barlo. He must hate patch days too and be in a bit of a grumpy mood because there's no pet reward again for me. Argh! How on earth am I supposed to get 4 of these damn crocodile pets. Grrr.

So - on to Skettis to meet the Sha'tari Skyguard Quartermaster and pick up my new pet - the tiny and very very cute [Nether Ray Fry]. I took him back to Shattrah and looked at him and my [Tiny Spore Bat] and tried to work out which was cutest.

Finally it's time to take the new baby out for a "float", or whatever it is that Nether Rays do. I'm not quite sure. In fact I rarely ride my [Purple Riding Nether Ray] because I end up feeling slightly queasy when I do for some reason.

We fly around Shattrah together and let him stretch his wings, gills or whatever they are. I have to remind him not to stray to far from Mummy, but I think he's happy with his new owner.

World First! ... and a new friend

Well, last night - what can I say. I didn't particularly want to raid. I'm kind of fed up of Gruul. There's nothing I want from him, I ALWAYS die (lots) and he's a boring fight. But, people were keen, we were short on healers ... all the usual stuff, so I went. We started off with 22 or 23 people and wiped on HKM. We found a few friends, children of members, strays off the street - that sort of thing and managed to fill the raid.

Someone was going to announce the pull... 5, 4.... he pulled! Turns out his microphone or vent link or whatever has a delay! Another wipe. This is where I hate being a healer - was so much easier on a wipe when I was a rogue.

Try again - somehow this time we managed to end up with 3 tanks, 4 (maybe 5) healers and 3 or 4 dps with HKM and an add left. Slowly the add died and we moved on to HKM. It was a LONG fight - the dps all got charged and died in an instant. Fear-ward tanks, heal, regen, heal, regen .... slowly, slowly we got him down 9%... cheers from the dead onlookers, laughs about it being the longest fight ever, ... 8% - still going, managing well (Yay for my Spirit gear), ... 7% - BAM!

Did you know that HKM had an enrage timer after which his damage increases by 500% or something? No? Nor did we - nor does Wowwiki or any of the other guides I've read. So - in true Common Sense spirit we decided that we have achieved a WORLD FIRST! We are the World's first guild to discover that High King Maulgar has an enrage timer.

Fresh from this "success" we continue, try again and actually kill him. Some days I can't believe that we've actually done both of them in 40 minutes. Gruul takes a few tries, but eventually he geos down too. It's taken us over 2 hours to get the raid together, get buffed, food, flasks, wipe and kill, but at least we're raiding again.

At this point I'm a bit tired and log off to go to bed. So - I'm lying in bed wondering what to write my blog about and then I remember I have a [Mr. Pinchy] who has his third cooldown ready. Oh well, I'll do him tomorrow... Darling husband starts snoring... Mind going overtime planning blog... tummy starts rumbling...

So - 1.45am - I get up. I put some toast in, boil the kettle and turn on the computer. Oh my - some guildies are STILL online - we sure are a late-night guild. Nom, nom toast, slurp, slurp tea - click on Mr Pinchy. Flash effect! Panic and look for Furious Mr. Pinchy - nope, not there. Check in bag for Mr. Pinchy's Gift - nothing. Finally look at my log to see what is going on - has Mr.Pinchy bugged on me?

And there it is .... "You receive [Magical Crawdad Box]". OMG! I GOT HIM! I GOT A NEW PET! So - 2am is a good time to open your Mr Pinchy folks - you heard it here! My crawdad is a very cute pet and an ideal fishing companion.

So this leaves me with a "Pet shopping list" of all 4 Crocodiles, the 2 seasonal summoned bosses pets (grrr), a lifelike mechanical toad, Willy (children's week - only been here 2 times, so he's the third one) and the new patch 2.4.3 pets (one of which I'm buying as soon as it comes, the other my darling guildies will be charmed into farming with me). I even have a volunteer already ...

Saturday, 5 July 2008

It vexes me. I am terribly vexed.

Ha ha - maybe this can become my theme - guess the film from the title of my posts :)

Well, I think the fire festival is over - apparently there were fireworks last night, all the guards in Booty Bay were sleeping, but I had a headache and couldn't really stay about. I've only just got up so haven't logged in yet to see if I can do the fire festival dailies one last time to get my 100 blossom [Mantle of the Fire Festival] reward. I'm sure I read somewhere that it finished on 5th July, but am probably wrong.

I am totally fed up. I've killed Ahune 63 times and not seen the pet. As someone who values collecting pets almost more than other EPIXXX it distresses me that I'm not going to be able to get this pet. There is no other thing in the game that works this way. You can grind and grind pvp or pve content for everything else, kill mobs over and over again to get a particular pet (6000 emerald whelps for example :S) and all sorts. Can you imagine the uproar if a certain special piece of armor was only available for 2 weeks a year (although I think I'm probably whining a bit much here - the cloaks and helm from horseman and stuff, but they don't seem the same - they are not THAT special are they?).

I bet nearly all the people who won the little gorgeous scorchling won't even appreciate what they have got. Some may even throw it away (Dad - how COULD you have chucked your [Sinister Squashling]?)

Oh no - having checked Breanni's pet collecting website she now says the drop rate for my pet was 1 in 65 - when I started the killing it was 1 in 40, then 1 in 50 and I thought I'd killed enough - but, but I only killed him 63 times - no wonder I didn't win! It's OK - I know the maths - I'm a trained Statistician - I'm just joking with you - "never tell me the odds" (another cookie for naming that film).

So - it's back to fishing for me to see if I can get either a crocodile or another stab at a magical crawdad. At least now they gave us Holy Priests some spell damage I can have a good go at killing the stupid elite trees that jump me when I'm relaxing by the lake in Skettis.

Happy weekend all.

Gief me a new pet

This is what I want... [Scorched Stone]

One heroic kill and 5 normals and no sign of that nasty Ice Lord Ahune dropping one for me :( *Update - another 5 kills tonight and still no sign of hte little fire guy. Sad bunny.

I have been having fun over the last few days - have visited ALL the bonfires of the world. The result - my very own little [Captured Flame] and a "waiting for raid to start" fun item [Brazier of Dancing Flames]. I also made over 800g while visiting all the fires - it's nice to get some money while collecting more junk for my bags.
