Venting with a GM

So I was a little upset that the fire festival finished early. No pet, no shoulders and 81 useless blossoms in my bags. So, like a true Mum I found someone to complain to and petitioned a GM.

I wanted them to know that they should make things clearer in the future about end dates - for PVP events the end date includes the last date given, but for the festival it did not.

The GM asked me if she could help me with anything else, so I got cheeky.

So she came and appeared in front of me...

... and blew me a kiss... which made me marginally happier about the mess they had made of the end of the festival.

Shame she didn't have anything she could give me (like chocolate - did I mention I like chocolate?). I did remind her to up my odds of getting a [Sinister Squashling] for Halloween though.

Mum, what shall we do now?

It's summer. Things are quiet. The kids are bored and we've only been in the school holidays for 3 days - another 8.5 weeks to go!

It's the same in my guild as it is at home. So much to do, but it's all BORING. "Seph - what shall we do?", "Seph - organise something.", "What are YOU doing tonight Seph?". I feel like shaking the lot of them and saying - LOOK, I'm NOT your mother - you are all adults, you can make up your own minds, you can organise stuff by yourselves. I'm perfectly happy fishing, cooking, picking flowers, hiding from horde, chatting, dancing, emoting to strangers - all the fun stuff.

But, I'm not like that - I care for my children, even if they are all a right royal pain in the ****.

So, it looks like I'm going to have to organise trips out, in guild and at home. I wonder if I could set up some sort of a treasure hunt? I've often thought about this - give a list of items to collect and send people off round the world to get them. Does anyone know if this has been done before?

It's brewing in my mind and will probably take shape over the next few days. Any thoughts, suggestions, opinions are gratefully received.

It vexes me. I am terribly vexed.

Ha ha - maybe this can become my theme - guess the film from the title of my posts :)

Well, I think the fire festival is over - apparently there were fireworks last night, all the guards in Booty Bay were sleeping, but I had a headache and couldn't really stay about. I've only just got up so haven't logged in yet to see if I can do the fire festival dailies one last time to get my 100 blossom [Mantle of the Fire Festival] reward. I'm sure I read somewhere that it finished on 5th July, but am probably wrong.

I am totally fed up. I've killed Ahune 63 times and not seen the pet. As someone who values collecting pets almost more than other EPIXXX it distresses me that I'm not going to be able to get this pet. There is no other thing in the game that works this way. You can grind and grind pvp or pve content for everything else, kill mobs over and over again to get a particular pet (6000 emerald whelps for example :S) and all sorts. Can you imagine the uproar if a certain special piece of armor was only available for 2 weeks a year (although I think I'm probably whining a bit much here - the cloaks and helm from horseman and stuff, but they don't seem the same - they are not THAT special are they?).

I bet nearly all the people who won the little gorgeous scorchling won't even appreciate what they have got. Some may even throw it away (Dad - how COULD you have chucked your [Sinister Squashling]?)

Oh no - having checked Breanni's pet collecting website she now says the drop rate for my pet was 1 in 65 - when I started the killing it was 1 in 40, then 1 in 50 and I thought I'd killed enough - but, but I only killed him 63 times - no wonder I didn't win! It's OK - I know the maths - I'm a trained Statistician - I'm just joking with you - "never tell me the odds" (another cookie for naming that film).

So - it's back to fishing for me to see if I can get either a crocodile or another stab at a magical crawdad. At least now they gave us Holy Priests some spell damage I can have a good go at killing the stupid elite trees that jump me when I'm relaxing by the lake in Skettis.

Happy weekend all.

Is my Blog title right?

A lovely email I got from Auzara made me question the title of my blog. So far I've not covered any of the "Mum" type stuff that made me pick the name. It may be because I've been so busy multiple-murdering Frost Lord Ahune every night that people are afraid to contact me. Either that or I've missed the messages because the fight is soooo hectic for a healer.

Maybe it's because it's quiet over the summer and folks are just chilling, but there have been few "Seph - what are we doing tonight" messages, or the "Seph, can you organise something". Funny how what used to wind me up, now makes me feel unwanted and unloved because it is missing. Can't win huh?

This week we've had a bigger lull in the sign-ups as the issue of old-school raids is back. It's probably my fault (that's a Mum trait - blame yourself) - a very old WOW friend (Whoopzi) mentioned to me that he missed Ragnaros. We used to be in the same hardcore guild and had a first Raggy kill together. So last weekend I organised the MC run that I posted about. It went great and we had some fun. But now some in the guild want to go back and do all the old-school instances. To be honest I'm finding it a bit frustrating. We will need 25 or more people I think to defeat BWL and AQ40, let alone Naxx. Yes, I know it's been soloed by a Resto druid or whatever, but let's face it - this guild is not quite of that standard!

My challenge is that if we can get 25 people to go visit an old instance "that I've never seen before", why can't we get 25 people to see a new one that MOST of us have never seen before, that we might actually get something that could benefit one of us from... I don't want to go to BWL and wipe (which I'm sure we will, we need Onyxia cloaks and stuff and ppl can't even farm mana potions for Outlands instances, let alone farm Onyxia scale cloaks) - I did enough of that before. I'd rather go see somewhere new and wipe.

Now look - I've gone all off topic and vented again.... It must be because I'm kind of distracted by daughter and her Brio train track construction that I'm having to participate in.

Hmmm - I think I may have to move my Blog writing time from the day to the evening. Back, hopefully somewhat more coherently later...

Will the girls like this? Will the girls like that? Is it too big? Is it too small?

Points for guessing what film the title of this message comes from....

I was messing about with my gear and stats and gems and things recently so I thought I'd share some of the sites I use to look at myself.

Be Imba allows you to access your character on the armory (I think you must be level 70) and then tells you which instances your gear is "good enough" for and where your best source of upgrades will come from. It tells you which items are not enchanted "correctly" and what gems you should use. For me it's a good "guide", but not strictly "the law". For example, it doesn't like my +30 spirit enchant on my [Rod of the Blazing Light].

Another website I fiddle with is Loot Rank, which is described far better than I ever could describe it by A dwarf Priest in his article. I say fiddle because the theorycrafting and stuff is a bit beyond me - well, probably not beyond me, but at least beyond the time I'm willing to invest in it.

Kaliban's Class Loot Lists provide gear information for all dungeons and raids, as well as world drops. This one is great when you're levelling to know which instances you can get great gear for your character from.

Another great site to while away hours on if you're so inclined is character developer. Here you can mess about with all the gear, buffs, gems, enchants, food, drink, etc. etc. that you want and put them on your character to see what effect it might have. If I had a whole day to mess about I'd spend it here.

Well, that's all I can think of for now - as I come across more I'll let you know.

Time may be a bit short for daily posts over the coming months. The kids have finished school and I have 9 weeks of fun to come. Come September I'll probably be a shrivelled, wrinkled, hairless wreck - but so far - half a day down it's doing OK - helps that son is out over the road sleeping over in someone's tent and that daughter has a friend round. I have a cup of tea and a few minutes peace to write.

Enjoy your day all....

Guild Website back!

I am whole again! Now I can check it regularly and not be sad - well, not sad in the unhappy way - maybe I am still a bit "sad" in the geeky computer nerd way.

Oh - on another good note - I farmed for and got [Piccolo of the Flaming Fire] last night, so if people resist the charms of my [Brazier of Dancing Flames] I can FORCE them to dance a bit with my new little trinket.

This game and our guild is for FUN - you WILL have FUN, even if I have to force it on you!

Character Colours

I've been thinking about this one for a while. Ever since I spent some badges and got my [Gown of Spiritual Wonder]. Have you noticed that it's a GREEN dress. I mean - way to go Blizz - you totally messed up the looks of my beautiful priestess. Priests should wear purple. Purple, silver or white. Those are the colours of priests. But green - what were you thinking of? So last night while lying in bed listening to my husband snoring next to me and not being able to sleep, I began to think through each class and wonder what colours I would associate with each one - I'm talking generally about colours of clothes here, although there were some more general thoughts that went in with it. So - my list...

Priests - Purple, silver or white - regal, pure, clean. Ofc I'm mostly talking Holy priests since that's what mine is, but I think these would also go well with Shadow because of shadow form turning you purple - no chance of a clash there.

Druids - well, this one was easy - Green with possible hints of brown. Druids are at one with nature and should colour match so they can hide in trees. They remind me of Robin Hood - can do lots of stuff, then blend back in with the forest and not be seen.

Hunters - Also green, but maybe a bit more brown. Like druids they tend to hide and use camouflage a lot so should blend in with their environment.

Mages - Here I think it depends on spec - Frost mages should be blue, Fire mages red, and arcane mages purple (unless the priest wants the item - lol) - hmm - maybe not purple, but I'm not sure what other colour they could have. Are there any arcane spec mages - not sure I've ever met one.

Paladin - Well, generally I'd say gold. They keep their armour clean (or their pages it it for them anyway). The ultimate Paladin for me would be Sparhawk from David Eddings books (same one's Sephrenia came from). I am tempted to include pink here though, because in my eyes the female ones want to be girly some of the time and the male ones are all gay, or have gay tendencies. I know, i know - massive generalisation - but it's MY blog - I can say what I like.

Rogue - Black. Simple as. Well, almost - I'm tempted to put in a bit of yellow - the colour that symbolises jealousy or cowardice because I feel that most rogues tend to fit into one or the other of those categories. They sneak about spying on people or hiding from people, so it only seems right.

Shaman - Well, I'm not sure about Shaman. Gut thoughts were for bluey-green sort of "at one with the elements" stuff, but then I'm also leaning to a sort of harlequin type outfit with a mix of all colours - a kind of court jester sort of outfit. This one was the hardest for me to define.

Warlock - Black and purple were the ones that initially came to mind - sort of an evil spell type thing - but then the thought of loot competition came up and I had a re-think ;) How about blood red and black, possibly with touches of silver? Hmm - that might work too.

Warrior - Another easy one - brown, bronze, pewter - dirty, scuffed up looking. They have had a tough life and it should show in their armour. The shiny gold that Paladins wear is not for them. Their armour gets "cleaned" when it rains.

So - what do you think? Agree, or not? Have I been far too stereotypical? I don't care - all I want is a nice new PURPLE dress with stats on it - not my [Lovely Purple Dress].
